The Dead Pool (1988, Buddy Van Horn, dvd) - 9
The scene with Jim Carrey and the car chase sequence are amazing.
Rad (rewatch, 1986, Hal Needham, vhs) - 9
The Screwfly Solution (2006, Joe Dante, tv) - 8
The Descent (rewatch, 2006, Neil Marshall, dvd) - 9.5
I liked it a whole bunch more this time (I think I initially gave it an 8). And the original ending isn't as dumb as I thought it was when I watched it (and misinterpreted it) on youtube.
Epic Movie (2007, Jason Friedberg & Aaron Seltzer, theater) - 3
Almost never funny, but surprisingly, the unfunniness rarely reaches the level of painful. And I was never bored, at least. Crispin Glover is ok in it, but I don't know. He does some good dancing, but I guess some of it wasn't actually him.
Smokin' Aces (2007, Joe Carnahan, theater) - 7
Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (rewatch, 2006, Adam McKay, dvd) - 8.5
All the new stuff in the unrated, extended edition should've remained cut out. If I had rewatched the theatrical version, it'd get a 9.
Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (audio commentary by Adam McKay and Ian Roberts) - 10
Strangers with Candy (rewatch, 2006, Paul Dinello, dvd) - 7.5
If only the dialogue was as good as the set design. I hoped to like this more the second time, but I liked it pretty much exactly the same.
Strangers with Candy (audio commentary with Amy Sedaris, Paul Dinello, and Stephen Colbert) - 7
Tetris: From Russia With Love (2004, Magnus Temple, tv) - 9
I missed the first 20 minutes and the channel I caught it on isn't repeating it any time soon, which is very unfortunate. Alexey Pazhitnov is incredibly adorable.
Road House (1989, Rowdy Herrington, theater) - 9
Swayze.
Top Gun (semi-rewatch, 1986, Tony Scott, theater) - 3.5
Not quite as awful as I remembered, but it's still not very good. Did you know both David Cronenberg and John Carpenter were offered the chance to direct this, but turned it down?
A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge (rewatch, 1985, Jack Sholder, theater) - 5.5
It's kinda hard to tell what the fuck this movie is trying to say about being a gay teen, but I think it just may be one of the most offensive movies ever made.
Bring It On: All or Nothing (2006, Steve Rash, dvd) - 10
Fucking incredible! Look out, The Hills Have Eyes, there may just be a new Best Film of 2006!
2001 Maniacs (2006, Tim Sullivan, tv) - 8.5
A rare case where I actually prefer the original to the remake, but this is still pretty great. Eli Roth has a cameo, reprising his role from Cabin Fever, but in a prequel sense. We get to see him learning the "faced" manuever.
Less Than Zero by Bret Easton Ellis - 7
Super fucking depressing, and kinda hard to get through.
Now Playing movies I need 2 see
Dreamgirls
Hannibal Rising
Inland Empire
Jules and Jim (Castro)
The Messengers
Walkabout (Castro)
