The new episode of Popcorn Dangerous is up. It's ok. We talk about the first 4 Star Trek movies. And it's only 20 minutes this time! We're working on a new format, where we'll have much shorter episodes, but also more of them.
And also, No Fatties star Doug Freedman put up his pumpkin movie on youtube. He finally gave it a title (Pumpkin and Me), and it's got a brand new ending (he always hated the epilogue, so I suggested he just cut the entire last minute, and now it ends abruptly, which works much better).
Here's the first episode of Popcorn Dangerous in 9 parts. It's 82 fucking minutes long, and that's with like 20 minutes cut out. While editing it, I started to get kind of bored with it and wonder why anyone would bother to watch because all we're doing is talking about movies, but hopefully, it's entertaining somehow. Some things I've learned about myself are that I use a whole lot of extraneous words like "um" and "like" constantly, and am basically about as far from being eloquent as possible, and that Omar and I are both a lot nerdier than I had realized, but that one's not such a bad thing. Also, our theater lobby is freezing fucking cold, and so I was shivering a lot and really uncomfortable, and I'm pretty sure it shows. Also, I use the word "Christmas-y" about a billion times, which as it turns out, is not a real word, nor does it sound like one when I repeatedly use it. And also, somehow rape gets brought up like 4 times. We'll get better, though, I think.
Anyway, editing it was a pain in the cunt, and I had all these retarded fucking issues with Final Cut Pro. We shot in widescreen which was obviously necessary, and also just easier because that's how cameras shoot shit these days, but I couldn't get FCP to export without the video being letterboxed, meaning it would save with the black bars on the top and bottom as part of the image. Since youtube has gone widescreen now, this would have resulted in a huge black border on every side. I finally figured out how to fix it, and it involved individually changing a setting on every single clip on the timeline. But then, even after sorting all that out, I uploaded it to youtube, and they fucking squished it anyway! I eventually figured out how to fix this, too, but not until I had already uploaded the first 6 videos, and it wasn't worth replacing them. So only 7-9 look the way they're supposed to.
If you want the strictly audio version, you can download that here (it's 74MB). But you might not be able to make out much of what we're saying. I added in some background Christmas music throughout the whole episode to make it seem more exciting, but when I ripped the audio, the music didn't seem to be quite as much in the background as it's supposed to be. Since we don't have any, like, microphones, the sound isn't quite perfect on the video version either, but it's slightly better at least. If you do decide to only listen to us and not have to also stare at us, you should still watch the short film at the beginning of Part 1, and possibly the outtakes at the end of Part 9. There's some extra footage of me throwing myself into a table and some chairs, which resulted in a couple days worth of pain in my inner thigh, as well as some cut dialogue that, coincidentally, also relates to thigh pain.

Outtakes from Short Film
Girlmar and I are gonna start doing a video podcast about movies. We've been talking about it for a long time, but I always wanted to do an audio one because I think it's boring to watch when it's just people talking, and I prefer it when I can listen instead while driving or doing other things. But anyway, recording video is weirdly easier than recording strictly audio, and I've been feeling anxious to record some shit, anyway, so it's gonna be video, and then maybe I'll rip the audio off it, and you could consume it in either version. What's also exciting about it is that every show is gonna have a theme, and I want to do like a 1 minute movie at the beginning of every show that fits that theme. I've written scripts for a James Bond movie and a Christmas movie, and they are retarded and don't make any sense. But funny! And with obscure references to extraterrestrial pornography. Anyway, it's called Popcorn Dangerous, and here's a commercial we made starring some high school kids.
